Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She is the author of fifteen books, and she is co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. She moved from Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and earned an MA at Cambridge University in Economics. She was the first student from outside the UK to be elected president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. She became an author for a conservative newspaper after her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online platform for voice with a critique of current political scenarios. Her celebrity status helped her in getting several high-profile contributors to post their views on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna became famous in 2003 when she ran as an independent in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. Apart from this she also directed a Detroit project to promote vehicles that are fuel efficient. Forbes named her as one of the "most important female" in the media industry, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL Inc. appointed her President of their media division in 2011 after they bought The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included additional AOL brands, including Engadget AOLmusic Style list or Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant. Her character was formed by her closeness to her mother as well as her relationship with her dad, despite her being very close to her father. In her earliest years, she exhibited leadership skills for which her name is still well-known. At the age of 16, she moved over to England in the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first woman and the sole foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. She worked as a critic, a TV host and a columnist after her graduation. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
