Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington has worked as an actor, journalist, philanthropist and author for more than 10 years. Her role also includes being the founder of The Huffington Post, an independently-liberal online newsmagazine. Originating from Greece she was able to move to England when she was sixteen and then was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to be elected president in the prestigious debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the presidency. As a conservative syndicated blogger when she graduated, she went on to become an influential voice for the Huffington Post. The celebrity she enjoyed enabled her to get a variety of famous people to share their opinions regarding current affairs, the culture and politics. Arianna became famous after she decided to run as an Independent Candidate in the California Recall Election in order to succeed the Governor Davis. Additionally, she was involved in a Detroit-based project that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as one of the top female media personality, taking the 12th position in the list and in the same year, the Guardian listed her on the top 100 of media lists. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. Then she was appointed the head of AOL's media group. It included a number of AOL owned properties like Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, an expert in management and a journalist. They were very close to her father, but it was the relationship she had with her mother which shaped her. In her earliest times, she demonstrated leadership skills for which her name is still well-known. At 16 years of age she moved back to United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She joined Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college, where she was the third female to hold the position of the president. In 1972, her Master's in Economics was awarded. She worked as a critic as well as a host on TV as well as a columnist following her graduation. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She started writing books, taking his help for editing.
